How do you care for the boards?

Fine wood products are surprisingly easy to care for and if cared for properly should last for many years. The first thing to keep in mind with any wood product is to avoid submerging in water - extended exposure to water will destroy your wood products of any kind. After use, just rinse your board with warm, soapy water quickly and allow it to air dry. When you notice the board is starting to feel dry, apply your chosen product to nourish and condition the board. We recommend The Bearded Chef Wood Butter, all of our boards are initially conditioned and sealed with this product. The beeswax products will keep your board’s colors light and vibrant, while using only oils can darken the colors of the woods. It really is that simple to care for the boards and trays.

Another question we often are asked is, “what if it gets a scratch from the knives?” All of our products are made with fine hardwoods so while scratches are always possible, the hardwoods are much more resistant to scratching than the softer woods used in the products available at the big box stores. Remember, our products are built for use and we take pride in providing a product that will look beautiful and last for many years to come.
